Remote work has become very popular recently. Even before COVID-19 there were many companies that have adopted Remote work policy. During COVID-19, every company had to operate from home. That is when companies and employees realised what are the pros and cons of remote working. Let's have a look at them in this article.
Pros of Remote Working
1. Flexibility - Remote working provides flexibility to employees in terms of working hours. Though there may be specific timings, employees have to flexibility to work as per their convenience.
2. Increased productivity - As employees feel comfortable with work from home, it increases their productivity.
3. Cost savings for the company - In remote jobs, company need not provide all the things required for work. They include a place to work, a PC or laptop, Internet connection, and pantry facilities. This saves a lot of cost to the company.
4. Expanded talent pool - Employees restricted my geographical locations can also work in remote jobs. It helps companies get better employees with better skills.
5. Improved work-life balance - As the whole work is from your home, you can have an improved work-life balance.
6. Reduced stress - Having to work from home, it helps you reduce work stress. There will be deadlines, but the pressure on you will be a little less than working from office.
Cons of Remote Working
1. Social Isolation - In remote work, there are less interactions. This may lead to social isolation to some people.
2. Communication and collaboration challenges - While working from home, there might be some communication challenges among the employees. As the interactions are very less, employees face difficulty in communicating with each other.
3. Technical constraints - Remote jobs are mainly dependant on technology. Any faults in it interrupt your work.
